Winter means its time for grooming, snow biking and other fun!
Welcome in the winter season, help us raise some money for grooming operations, and maybe try snow biking for the first time! Join us for snow bike demos in the afternoon and a party at The Continental Fire Co in the evening.

Demo bikes from Cross Country Sports, Down Wind Sports, Rhythm Bike & Board Co., and Michigan Tech’s Outdoor Adventure Program.
Hopefully we’ll have enough snow to do some grooming, but we’ll be riding bikes either way. There will also be a bonfire, refreshments, and a group ride at 4:00.
Party at the Continental Fire Company in Houghton at 7pm
Music, drinks, silent auction, and Copper Harbor Art Bike posters for sale. $10 cover charge and other proceeds will go towards snow bike grooming.
Make it an evening in Downtown Calumet! There’s always new exhibitions at the art galleries, fine people and good food! There are even some talented singers if you know where to look!
“First Fridays” are a monthly event showcasing the talent of our area artists, and an excellent evening for socializing and networking.
Join the cyclocross movement and madness with these mid-season cyclocross races in Copper Harbor! There are multiple classes/categories for men and women, and two days of fun! October 14-15, 2017.
Great for the seasoned cyclocross racer, and there is even a single lap course for first-timers! Not sure what this is all about? Stop into the shop and talk about it!
Join the Michigan Nature Association for their annual Black Creek Snowshoe Hike!
Meet at the parking area at the trailhead along Sedar Bay Road. Join stewards Peter and Jill Pietila for a 3.5 mile hike through a varied forest landscape to a lovely lagoon and a dramatic opening onto Lake Superior. You are invited to the Pietila home nearby for warming refreshments afterwards. Dress for the weather and bring water, snacks, and snowshoes.
The hike will be postponed to the following Saturday, January 21st, if the weather is extreme.
Free skiing and snowshoeing offered all day, normal day pass rate of $10 is not charged on Winter Trails Day. If you have a membership at other local trails, this will be a great time to visit Swedetown and try all the great trails. Swedetown Trails Club members will be on hand to suggest trails to explore.
Swedetown member already? Bring along a friend to try skiing or snowshoeing. From noon to 4 p.m., there will be free snowshoe or ski rentals provided by Cross Country Sports of Calumet. Or maybe you want to try some different equipment yourself. First come, first served for rental equipment, as available. Come to the Swedetown Chalet to check out equipment.
Free coffee, hot chocolate and apple juice from noon to 5 p.m. Stop in and say hi! Chalet is open until 5 p.m. and trail lights are on until 9 p.m.
We will hold Trails Day on January 15th no matter the weather, dress appropriately for the day. Trails Day is cosponsored by Cross Country Sports of Calumet and the Swedetown Trails Club.
Every Tuesday through March meet up with folks at Cross Country Sports and we will make our way over to the Swedetown Trail system for a fat bike ride. Swedetown Trail System allows fat biking every Tuesday night after 5pm. Call the shop or stop by if you’ve got questions. See you on Tuesdays!
