March 12, 1pm – Back Country Trek at Redwyn’s Dunes Nature Sanctuary
Bring along snacks and water and skis or snowshoes and enjoy a backcountry trek to and around the picturesque dunes, led by steward Phil. Plan on two or more hours of skiing/snowshoeing round trip. Be sure to wear appropriate clothing for a backcountry adventure. Skiers have the option of additional skiing on their own nearby on the Eagle Harbor Twp. Recreation Trail that passes through three MNA Sanctuaries, Cy Clark Mem. NS, Dean Webster Mem. NS, and Eagle Harbor Red Pine Dunes NS.
Getting there: Follow M-26 about 4 miles east of Eagle River. Park at the large MDOT parking lot across from Great Sand Bay.
Mountain biking is back in the Keweenaw on Father’s Day weekend, June 18, 2016. One- and two-lap races at the Michigan Tech trails. More information to come!
