Get your costume and your running shoes ready for the 2015 Muck Run!
The annual Muck Run at the Michigan Tech Trails will take place Saturday, October 31, 2015, at 10 am. The 5K trail race through mud, muck, and mire (maybe even snow) benefits the Michigan Tech men’s and women’s cross country team and Nordic ski team. Pre-registration is available by downloading and mailing the info/registration form (postmarked by October 22) or the morning of the race (for an addiontal $2). Short sleeve race t-shirts are included with registration for the first 60 registrants (size dependent on availability).

Support the Copper Country Ski Tigers by selling or swapping your used nordic ski equipment and apparel at the annual Nordic Ski Swap on Saturday October 31st, between 10:00am and 12:00 pm at the Houghton High School Multi-Purpose Room. A 15% commission is charged on all items to support the team, with a maximum of of a $50 commission per item.
Drop off items: 8:00 am – 9:45 am
Pick-up unsold items: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

Annual all-member Swedetown Trails Club meeting with special guest Dr. Bill Short. Short business meeting, all season pass holders are voting members. Our guest will tell the story of a real-life trail rescue from Swedetown Trails. Refreshments and social time to follow. Please join us!

The women at Cross Country Sports are thinking up some specials for this coming Saturday, Small Business Saturday, and along with a few other local businesses, sales and treats especially for the ladies.

Come Fall in Love with Historic Downtown Calumet. Paint the Town Red Ladies Day is coming to Calumet Saturday November 28th! We’re all decked out in red and ready for the holidays with one of a kind gifts, gorgeous art, and stunning ideas for your home.
Enjoy shopping and dining in a warm and relaxed atmosphere in historic downtown Calumet. Gift wrap, chocolate, refreshments, available at many locations. Drawings and prizes, discounts and very special sales are waiting for you.
Come down to downtown Calumet and get in the holiday spirit. Enjoy the tree lighting ceremony and a visit with Santa at the Vertin Gallery. There will be live music and carolers walking around and it is also First Friday so many of the downtown shops will be open late for shopping and art galleries with new artists’ work.

Special yoga workshop just for cross country skiers. Focusing on stretching and strengthening the muscles used in cross country skiing so you can improve your flexibility and balance. Try it out! Adding yoga to your routine can bring extra enjoyment to your winter season on the trails.
In the upper level of the Swedetown Chalet at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 5th. Fee is $10 and preregistration is required. No previous yoga experience is needed. Bring a mat, blanket or floor pad to the session.

Come out to the Orpheum Theater & Studio Pizza to support the Maasto Hiihto/Churning Rapids trails! The money raised will be used for maintenance and building of the bridges in the gorgeous Swedetown Creek gorge. Featured music: Uncle Floyd (a Pink Floyd cover band) and Wingnuts with the singing Sheriff Ron Lahti.

Visit Santa at Rowe Furniture 11am-1pm, enjoy live music by the Clown Band, and have fun at a Copper Dog sponsored event and enjoy dog sled rides at Agassiz Park with free hot dogs, coffee and hot cocoa at Pavilion.
The Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club is hosting a XC Ski Waxing Clinic this Saturday, December 12th from 1:00 to 2:00 in the afternoon. The clinic is free and open to anyone who wants to learn about waxing cross country skis.
