Winter, you’re really gone! It is spring! Scratch that – It is summer already! Trees are in full leaf, the black flies have subsided, and its a great time to pack up your bikes, the tent, and find a trail!
May Day in the Keweenaw marks the eminent sugar plum tree blossoming, the nearing of the migratory birds, and the graduation season for our high schools and colleges. Across the Northern Hemisphere, May Day is the half way point between the first day of Spring and the first day of Summer. However, when you get 200+ inches of snow, this “halfway point” is only the just the beginning of our short and sudden spring.
Get out, throw your last snow ball (there is snow to be found somewhere), and get ready for a bike ride.
