It’s getting to be that time of year! That time when years ago, the smell of pine tar would permeate the store and many a basement all over the Keweenaw. Times have changed: while we do still pine tar on occasion, we are generally pulling out the wax iron to get those plastic bases all set for the start of another season. Another way to do the job more thoroughly is to “hot-box” your skis. Think of it as a sauna for your skis. (We all know that a sauna is good therapy for most everything.) We have a hot-box set up and charge $12 for a complete session and finishing with scraping and brushing. By keeping the skis at approx. 130 degrees for 90 minutes, there is far more wax penetration into your skis than you get with standard ironing, unless you’re going to wax your skis 10 or 12 times!
If you want us to give your skis the TLC they deserve, well, we’re here for you. Anytime, Monday thru Saturday 10am to 6pm.
