The Ski Tigers recently competed in the Michigan High School Championships and came back with a STATE CHAMPIONSHIP! Great work! The top skiers for our team were: In the Sprints– David Jasczak 1st. In the Pursuit– Issac Stone won it in a time of 32:34.6 (1st in classic,4th in freestyle), David Jaszczak 2nd (6th in classic, 1st in freestyle), Mitchell DeLong 3rd (3rd in classic, 3rd in freestyle).
This past weekend the Jr. Birke was cancelled (Too much snow!) but the Birkie, Korteloppet and Prince Hakon races were held on saturday. The top local skiers int those races were: In the Birkie– Skating: Matt Wong 55th, Tom Wood 89th, and Andrew Joda 96th out of 3,780. In the Birkie Classic– Tom Kendrick was 12th, Troy Skidmore was 112th, and Doug Oppliger was 159th out of 1,865.
In the Korteloppet Skate– Scott MacInnes 228th, Kim Green 267th, and Robert Handler was 738th out of 1,292. In the classic division–Logan Brueck 22nd, Shawn Oppligger 95th and Emily Oppligger 122nd out of 1,016. In the Prince Hakon 12km Skate–Nickolai Houtari was 26th, Kristy Houtariwas 27th, and Nicole Wehner was 73rd out of 130. in the classic race, Ronda Bogan was 42nd, Jim Bogan was 73rd and Ann Clancy-Klemme was 131st out of 219
Those efforts gave 2nd place finishes in their respective age groups to Logan Brueck, Shawn Oppligger and Emily Oppligger. Getting a third in his age group was Tom Kendrick. With the size of those races , that’s a great accomplishment! CONGRATULATIONS!
