For the month of September we are featuring nature-inspired jewelry and found art by Jackie Elenich — Designs by Jak. Jackie has lived all her life in the Calumet area and draws her inspiration for jewelry from her love of the outdoors, whether it is walking, biking or just strolling on the shores of Lake Superior. Her jewelry combines her love of nature and art by using rocks, bark, wood and found objects she collects on her walks to make what she calls “rustic wearable art.”
Whether it is a piece of sandstone from Herbard Park, conglomerate from Keweenaw Point or an agate from the mouth of the Gratiot, Calumet Waterworks or McLain State Park — when you are wearing her jewelry, you will be wearing a piece of the Keweenaw.
